SATA IS ZAMBIA'S PRESIDENT - CHIEF JUSTICE


Opposition Patriotic Front Candidate Michael Sata has won the presidency.
Chief Justice Ernest Sakala declared Sata duly elected a few minutes after midnight.
Sata polled 1, 150, 045 in the 143 constituencies tallied.
Chief Justice Ernest Sakala explained that even before the other seven constituencies were tallied, it was within the law to declare Sata president.
Outgoing president Rupiah Banda had 961, 796 votes.
