SOLWEZI DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATING COMMITTEE MEETING FAILS TO TAKE OFF

Solwezi District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) meeting this morning failed to take off after stakeholders reported to the meeting late forcing the District Commissioner, Rose Kamalonga, to cancel the sitting.

Ms Kamalonga, who is the chairperson of the DDCC, called off the meeting because of alleged lack of seriousness among members.

The DC said she was disappointed with the attitude of officers towards the meeting which was characterised by poor attendance.

She said there is no way she could proceed with the meeting without prior submission of quarterly progress reports by the officers which are the basis for the proceedings.

Ms Kamalonga said DDCC meetings are important because they provide a platform for sharing views and suggestions on how best to develop a district for the betterment of the people.

The District Commissioner also cautioned members in the district to desist from taking part in partisan politics and avoid violent acts as parties start their campaigns ahead of the August 11 general elections.
