The Media Institute of Southern African
(MISA) Zambia is shocked with the death of Minister of Information and
Broadcasting Services Kennedy Sakeni.
His death yesterday at the University
Teaching Hospital is not only shocking but a blow to the media industry because
Mr Sakeni had a heart for the media and journalists at heart. He was a true
believer that dialogue and engagement on issues of freedom of expression including
the press in Zambia was cardinal to
sustaining Zambia’s democracy and good governance.+
As we mourn him we also wish to convey our
heartfelt condolences to His Excellency President Michael Sata, the nation, his
family and friends and pray for God’s comfort during this time. We also pray
that his soul may find eternal rest in God’s loving arms.
