PUBLIC WORKERS CALL FOR INCREASED HARDSHIP ALLOWANCE IN MWINILUNGA

Public service workers in Mwinilunga have appealed to the new Patriotic Front government to consider them for rural hardship allowance.
Zambia Congress of Trade Unions   (ZCTU ) Mwinilunga district branch Secretary, Paul Chitanti said this in an interview with ZANIS in Mwinilunga today.
Mr. Chitanti said it was sad to note that some officers in other rural districts are getting rural hardship allowance while those in Mwinilunga are not getting despite Mwinilunga being a rural district.
He expressed hope that the new government will consider addressing their plight since it is a listening government.
He said workers in the district were wondering why they are not included on rural hardship allowance entitlement yet goods in the district are far much more expensive than in districts near manufactures.
Mr Chitanti added that thermal electric power in the district is not a 24 hour service resulting in workers facing a lot of hardships as their minds loss concentration to work because they start looking for charcoal when there is power outage.
