WIFE HACKER COMMITS SUICIDE IN GWEMBE

A 29 year old man of Nalucha Village in Chief Ufwenuka’s area in Monze District was this morning discovered hanging dead on a tree after hacking his wife with a slasher.
Kelvin Phiri committed suicide last night and his lifeless body was found soaked with night rains this morning.
He was wearing a pair of jeans without a shirt and shoes and used wire and tree fibre to hang himself with.
Alfred Mwiinga reported the assault case to police.
Police told ZANIS in Gwembe that the deceased is suspected to have used a slasher to cause multiple head injuries on his wife Sharon Muleya of the same address.
The incidence happened around 21 hours yesterday and police are yet to investigate what transpired.
Muleya who is in an unconscious condition is admitted to Gwembe District Hospital. Police found the slasher at the suicide scene and are yet to record a statement from Muleya once she gains consciousness.
Phiri is alleged to have terminated his life for fear of being arrested.
The body is lying in Gwembe District Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
And police in Gwembe have not arrested and charged a junior officer from the Office of the President-Special Division in Gwembe District who beat up and sliced his wife’s left hand with a broken tumbler.
A source from Gwembe police station attributed the failure to arrest and charge the erring officer accordingly, to the passing on of the station’s Officer in charge who will be put to rest tomorrow, Tuesday.
