CENTRAL PROVINCE PS WELCOMES PROJECTS TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY

Central Province Permanent Secretary Denny Lumbama has said government welcomes organizations aimed at supplementing its efforts in alleviating poverty among people.
Mr. Lumbama said his office was always ready to support Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with projects which reduce poverty in the province.
Mr. Lumbama was speaking in his office yesterday when CONCERN Worldwide (CW) Nutrition Advisor Gudrun Stallkamp paid a courtesy call on him.
CONCERN Worldwide to start project in Central Province
Concern Worldwide with headquarters in Dublin in Ireland, is to start a project in Mumbwa district of Central province in agriculture and nutrition to help improve nutrition and reduce stunted growth among children in that district.
Mr. Lumbama called on other organizations to emulate CONCERN Worldwide even in other districts.
And Ms. Stallkamp said her organization, which was also in Western Province was introducing a project called Realigning Agriculture to Integrate Nutrition (RAIN) that would supplement government’s efforts in providing nutrition to its people.
She said the project would encourage farmers to grow crops that would help tackle stunted growth in most children.
