MALAWI MAGISTRATE, EX-MINISTER ARRESTED ON CORRUPTION CHARGES

Gaffer: Implicated
The Ant-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Blantyre Principal Resident magistrate Mzondi Mvula on corruption allegations.
He was locked up for several hours before he obtained a bail from the court.
It is alleged that the Magistrate solicited a bribe of MK5 million from an Indian businessman in Limbe.
The businessman was promised that he would be saved from prosecution by ACB.
Football administrator and General Manager Medical Aid Society of Malawi Sydney Chikoti, former deputy minister Rashid Gaffer and football agent Kondi Msungama are alleged to have acted as middlemen in the transaction. They too were arrested together with the Magistrate.
The suspected were given bail by Magistrate Mangawa Makhalira pending prosecution.
