GOVERNMENT TO REVITALISE ALL LOST CULTURES

Government has set aside resources to resuscitate all important traditional practices that have gone into extinction.
Nkandu Luo
Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nkandu Luo said Zambia’s vanished traditional practices leave much to be desired hence the need to re-awaken them.
Professor Luo said government will work hand in hand with all traditional rulers in the country on the traditional skills revitalisation process.
Speaking in Lusaka last night at the National Cultural night, Prof. Luo further urged Zambians to take keen interest in embracing their respective traditional cultures.
The National Cultural Night was mesmerised by the ever green Amayenge cultural ensemble and performances from various cultural groups.
Prof. Luo further called on Zambians to invest back in their villages in order to strengthen the cultural heritage preservation exercise among the young generation.
She said the Patriotic Front (PF) government will put culture top on its agenda because of the importance role it plays in uniting people.
Earlier, Tourism and Arts Deputy minister Keith Mukata hailed Zambian artists for their continued efforts in preserving the culture of Zambia through song, and paintings among others.
Mr. Mukata further called for a private public partnership approach in organising
cultural programs before, during before and after independence cerebrations.
