The Lions Club of Manda Hill has called on
stakeholders to look into the plight of the under privileged in society.
Speaking when the Club donated an assortment of
items worth K3.5 million to Chasdale Community School in Lusaka’s Chaisa
township today, Manda Hill Lions President Margaret Shalala said with
cooperation from all stakeholders, it is possible to make a difference in the
lives of the under privileged.
Lion Shalala said the Lions Club of Manda Hill has for
many years given support to pupils at the community school in form of school
fees, food and clothes as most of them are orphans.
Among the items donated to the community school
included desks, reading and exercise books, pencils and food stuffs.
And School Chairperson Josephine Mwila thanked the
Lions for the donation.
Mrs Mwila explained that the community school which
started under a mango tree in 2007 now has a total of 70 pupils.
She disclosed that a well wisher donated an incomplete
building where the pupils moved but still lacked necessities like books and
desks.
Mrs Mwila also explained that due to insufficient
classrooms, the pupils have to combine 2 grades in one small classroom.
She also appealed to stakeholders to join the Lions
Club of Manda Hill and help to construct a toilet for the pupils, as the
community school only relies on the neighbourhood to answer the call of nature.
