POWER OUTAGE WORRIES SIAVONGA BUSINESS HOUSES



Business in Siavonga has come to stand still following a prolonged power outage that occurred due to an electrical fault at the power station on the Zimbabwean side.
Some areas of Siavonga township have had no power since the problem of power supply happened yesterday from the Zimbabwean power line.
Business houses that rely on power have their merchandises almost going to waste as Siavonga township has excessive temperatures resulting in stored foodstuffs going bad even few hours of power shortage.
Most of the marketers talked to complained that their products have been gone to waist in their fridges stating that if they won’t have power by tomorrow they are likely to sue ZESCO for the damages.
The power outages which are being experienced in some area of Siavonga started yesterday around 17:00 hours when it started raining.
The areas which are affected are Newsite and service, Central part, Low cost, Kaleya, Game, Medium cost, Matinagala and part of Kanyelele compound.
Sources at Kariba North Bank Power Extention said a team of electricians have been sent to Zimbabwean power station to work on the transformer which is believed to have developed an electrical fault during the heavy down pour experienced in that country around 17:00 hours yesterday.
