SAPI APPOINTED AS WBC INTERNATIONAL SECRETARY

The African Boxing Union (ABU) has proposed to elect Zambia Professional boxing and wrestling Control board (ZPBWCB) Chairperson, Nelson Sapi on the World Boxing Council (WBC)
committee.
Sapi will become International Secretary of WBC and will be representing the African region.
ZANIS Sports reports ABU President Houcine Houichi revealing this in Lusaka today that the World Boxing Council (WBC ) has approved the appointment of Sapi to become one of the seven Secretaries on the WBC committee.
Houichi said the election of the Sapi will now means that the African body will have four votes on the WBC voting committee.
Meanwhile, the ZPBWCB has sanctioned the Oriental Boxing promotion fights between Zambia’s Pythias Kambembe and Namibia’s Daniel Kashela bout scheduled for Maramba stadium in Livingstone on September 3, 2011.
Board Secretary Ben Saili said the promoters, Oriental Quarries have met all the requirements needed to stage the boxing tournament.
And Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Operations Director, Christopher Malunga said the stable has raised K150 million out of the required K220 million to stage the tournament.
Malunga said Kambembe who was scheduled to fight Jason Naule of Namibia has been given another tougher of Daniel Kashela from the same country Namibia.
He however said all the other matches remain unchanged and will take place during the same tournament.
Among the fights on 3rd September in Livingstone include the fight between Gibbon Kamota of Oriental Quarries and Isaac Banda of Lusaka.
The international fights will be the welter weight fight between Pythias Kambembe of Oriental Quarries against Jason Naule of Namibia. Royda Mushukano of Oriental Quarries  will face  Daina Makumbe of Zimbabwe, while Catherine Phiri of Oriental Quarries will fight Cecilia Pitiseni of Zimbabwe.
Other fights will be between Abias Silumbwe of Oriental Quarries and Daison Mwansa of the Copper belt, Ernest Phiri will fight Charles Kauseni of Exodus Stables while Chitalu Mulenga and Queen Sakala both of Oriental Quarries will battle it out.
