MMD SCOOPS FIVE WARDS IN KAZUNGULA


Movement for Multiparty Democracy has won five wards in Kazungula constituency in the 2011 tripartite elections.
ZANIS reports from Kazungula that  (MMD) candidate  Martin Mushabati is the new councilor for Mukuni ward in Kazungula District.
And the United Party for National Development ( UPND )  has scooped nine out of 14 ward elections in Kazungula District.
Mr. Mushabati won the seat with 1, 350 votes after beating his closest rival Elvis Siamachoka of United Party for National Development (UPND) who got 1, 233 votes.
The seat which was contested by three candidates has placed Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Simukale Aggripa on third position with 59 votes.
Returning Officer Liftery Ndaba declared the local government results at Kazungula District Council Chamber yesterday in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, Mandia ward has also been taken by MMD’s Brighton Mwampole who got 695 votes and was seconded by UPND’s Moffat Mulele who got 456 votes.
Others are PF’s Mwangala Kapumbwe with 97 votes and Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD)’s Pius Chinunka who got 35 votes.
And in Sikaunzwe ward Edmark Ilyamupu of MMD has retained the seat by 1, 024 votes followed by Moffart Nalubatu of UPND with 805 votes.
PF candidate Wilfred Sitali scored 387 votes against ADD candidate Matele Pelekelo with 83 votes while in Sekute ward MMD’s Lackson Inambao won the seat by scoring 485 votes against his opponent Joseph Mafale of UPND who scored 425 votes.
In Moomba ward, MMD’s Davidson Sikasibi retained the local government seat with 376 votes against his only opponent Titus Kalimina of UPND who got 331.
And in Katapazi ward UPND’s Richard Mungala has won the local government seat by 1, 005 votes followed by MMD’s Menford Kamujoma who got 565 votes while Julia Ngwenya an independent candidate was third in the race with 139 votes.
In Musokotwane ward, UPND’s Kenford Siansole scooped the seat by 1, 169 against his only rival Evans Mwiya of MMD who got 618 votes. 
Kanchele ward has been scooped by Bernard Siloka of UPND with 714 votes and MMD’s Osward Siansundi was second with 640 votes.
Meanwhile, Nguba ward has been taken by UPND candidate Josam Kanatela who scored 1, 394 votes and was followed by MMD’s Lomenty Simaliki who got 494 votes.
Fine Munsaka, an independent candidate was third with 93 votes while in Nyawa ward, Elias Siamibila of UPND won the seat by 1, 725 votes seconded by Roy Mwaamvwa of MMD who scored 618 votes and PF’s Buster Mapulanga was third with 75 votes.
And UPND’s Getrude Kafue has won the local government seat in Chooma ward by 831 votes against her only opponent Cornwell Siakatako of MMD who got 253 votes.
In Kauwe ward, Mutoiwa Mathews of UPND has scooped the local government seat with 1, 002 votes and was seconded by ADD’s Enock Likokoto who got 428 votes.
Lazarous Simwatachela of MMD got 234 votes while PF’s Noah Siamachepu only managed 46 votes.
And in Simango ward, Fackson Inonge of UPND won the seat by 1, 223 and was followed by Richard Siakasimbo of MMD who got 562 votes while PF’s Edward Nkonde managed 97 votes.
In Ngwezi ward, UPND candidate Herbert Simundivwi scored 701 votes against MMD’s Getrude Masiliso who got 655 votes.
