CIVIC LEADER ASKS GOVT. TO SINK MORE BOREHOLES IN CHIKOBO WARD

A civic leader in Keembe constituency in Chibombo district of Central province has appealed to government to construct more boreholes in his area.
MMD Chikobo Ward Councillor Elias Tepa said the area requires about 60 boreholes so that all the people can have clean drinking water.
Mr. Tepa said the villagers are currently getting water for drinking from shallow and open wells, a situation that is posing a health hazard to them.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Mr. Tepa said the villagers are forced to walk long distances to Keembe and Mwachisompola streams among other water sources in Chikobo ward.
“I need more boreholes in my area because they are not enough. People walk long distances to fetch for the commodity,” he said.
And Mr. Tepa has appealed to government to rehabilitate feeder roads in his area.
The civic leader observed that feeder roads become impassable during the rain season hence the need to rehabilitate them now.
Mr. Tepa said the good roads will also accelerate economic development in the area.
