GOVT BUDGETS FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF PROVINCIAL RADIO, TELEVISION STATIONS


Government has drawn up a budget of about K89 billion for the establishment of the proposed provincial television and radio stations across the country.

Information and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister Mwansa Kapaya disclosed that government is working hard towards establishing provincial television and radio stations in line with the ruling Patriotic Front manifesto.

Mr. Kapeya disclosed this when he featured on a live special radio programme on Isoka Community Radio Station today.

He reiterated that his ministry has made headways in making the establishment of the stations a reality as evidenced by the plans and budgeting.

Mr. Kapeya said government is of the view that the establishment of the stations will help address some of the challenges in disseminating information particularly in rural areas.

The Deputy Minister further said the stations will operate professionally and will be used to highlight government’s developmental programmes.

President Michael Sata directed Mr. Kapeya to spearhead the establishment of the provincial television and radio stations across the country in line with the PF manifesto of enhancing information dissemination.
