UPND AND PF PLOT TO OUTDO EACH OTHER DURING THE PACT’S PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SELECTION

THE UPND and PF woes have deepened with both parties plotting to outdo each other during the process of selecting a pact presidential candidate.
According to sources within both UPND and PF, failure by both parties to resolve the Kaoma central and Chadiza local government by-election crisis was one of the disagreements to cripple the pact.
“As PF we feel Sata deserves the presidential candidate because of his popularity and large representation in Parliament,” said one of the PF official who declined to be named.
“Between HH and Sata, HH stand out. He is the best candidate to be sold by the pact. We cannot afford to compromise quality. We are just waiting for an aptitude time to begin campaigning for HH,” echoed UPND official, who equally declined to be named.
According to sources, both parties were plotting to out do each during the process of selecting a presidential candidate to represent the UPND and PF pact during the 2011 presidential and general elections.
“We cannot run away from the fact that both parties are consolidating their grounds by canvassing for more support during parliamentary and local government elections, hence, the confusion that characterized the Luena adoption process and both parties contesting Kaoma and Chadiza ward elections,” said a source.
Some UPND supporters in southern Province have since demanded that HH be adopted as a presidential candidate fort the pact while their counterparts in Luapula and Northern Province demand that Sata should lead the Pact.
