DRUG TRAFFICKING AMONG ZAMBIAN WOMEN WORRY ENVOY

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Albert Muchanga has expressed concern over the increasing number of Zambian women being arrested in foreign countries for drug trafficking.

Mr. Muchanga said in Ethiopia recently during the end of year party organised by the Zambian community in Addis Ababa that despite efforts to sensitise women against the vice, the number of victims has continued to rise.

He explained in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by First Secretary for Press Dorcas Chileshe that one Zambian woman was still in detention in Ethiopia for drug trafficking.

Meanwhile, Mr. Muchanga has urged Zambians living in Ethiopia to pray for peace before, during and after Zambia’s 2011 tripartite elections.

He noted that Zambians living abroad cannot enjoy peace when their country was in turmoil hence the need to ask God to preserve the country’s peace.

Mr. Muchanga commended the Zambian community in Ethiopia for the unity they have continued to exhibit and encouraged them to share ideas on investment opportunities as well as invest in Zambia.
