BOWASI CALLS FOR OBJECTIVE JOURNALISM

North-western Province Permanent Secretary Daniel Bowasi has urged the media to help unite people in the Province through objective reporting.
Mr Bowasi said the media should ensure that it reported objectively and not subjectively to avoid inciting  hatred or violence through sensational reporting or yellow journalism if development is to fully take place in the Province.
He made the advice in Solwezi today when he met North-western Province Council of Elders members at his office.
Mr Bowasi said since the media is a key partner with government in National development there is hence the need for media practitioners to continue sensitizing the general public on various development projects being implemented in the province by the able leadership of President Rupiah Banda.
Among these development projects are the Lumwana and Kansanshi Mining Companies in Northwestern Province which have so far jointly contributed a total of K57.1 billion in mineral royalties to the Treasury.
The other notable projects in the province initiated by government is the exploration of gas, oil and other minerals in Chieftainess Nyakulenga chiefdom, in Zambezi District.
The development have and would continue creating employment and bring economic development to the province and the nation as a whole, thereby transforming the living standards of Zambian citizens.
