INCREASE BUDGETARY ALLOCATION TO EDUCATION SECTOR - SIGHT SAVERS

Sight Savers  country Director  Joseph Musange  says  there is need  for government to  increase  the  budgetary allocation to the  Education sector  to attain  universal access to education the by 2015.
And the ministry of education says it  is making strides  to ensure an improved  education sector and the need for  stake holders to partner with the sector.
Mr. Musange  said the increased  in the budgetary  allocation to the sector  by 20 percent should also  be allocated to purchase the  teaching Aids materials in schools of persons with disabilities.
He stressed the  need for the ministry of Education to have a coordinated  budget approach  in the  sector.
He  said this  during a  special live  Muvi  TV program me  dubbed  inclusive Education  sponsored  by  the Zambia National  Education  Coalition    ( ZANEC)  today.
Mr  Musange  noted the need for the ministry of Education to provide equal access  of Learning materials  for the people living with disabilities.
He also stressed the need for government to  update the  education policy  which is out dated  and  put in place a mechanism  which will strengthen  the monitoring of  the special  needs  to the Education of persons with  disabilities.
Mr Musange noted  that quality Education in still a challenge  for the Education sector  in   both government ,private  and  community schools   adding that  there is need  for all stakeholder to come on board  and assist  to attain the MDGs.

And an official from the Ministry of Education,  James  Zulu  said during the same programme  that his ministry is making strides  aimed at  ensuring an improved  education sector.
Mr. Zulu said during the same programme that the ministry has made head ways in improving education services in the country adding that the ministry needs more  stake holders to partner with his ministry to achieve the goal.
He  noted that the Ministry is steadily moving towards the attainment of  inclusive  education adding that  the  education policy  I is currently being  reviewed to effectively implement  the education sector.
Meanwhile University of Zambia  Lecturer Francis Simuyi  urged  stakeholders  to also compliment on governments  efforts  towards  the Education sector   adding that the resources are not enough  for the sector.
Mr Simuyi  there is need for concerted effort s to work in partnership  with government to improve the education sector to put every  basic schools  to have  early childhood learning.
