The body of the late Zambia’s Deputy Ambassador to Brazil Dr. Musonda Chiti who died in a Brazilian Hospital on Saturday will arrive in the country this evening.
Zambia’s ambassador to Brazil Joel Ngo confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview today.
Ambassador Ngo said the body is expected to arrive at the Lusaka international airport at 20:30 hours aboard the South African Airways.
He said the body which was scheduled to arrive in the country this afternoon was left behind due to unforeseen circumstances.
Meanwhile, a dark cloud gripped family members and other mourners who were gathered at the airport to receive the body after they were informed that the remains of Dr Chiti had remained behind.
Ambassador Ngo flanked by Zambian Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Lucy Mungoma sympathized with the mourners as they demanded to know the where-about of the body.
Dr. Chiti died at a Brazilian hospital after an illness on Saturday December 11.
He leaves behind a wife and children.
Meanwhile, the late Dr. Chiti will be buried in Lusaka at Leopards Hill Memorial Park on Monday.
According to a tentative programme made available to ZANIS, a church procession will be conducted at the New Apostolic Church Central congregation in Longacres before proceeding for burial.
