FEW SINAZONGWE RESIDENTS SEEK VCT SERVICES

Sinazongwe District Commissioner (DC) Oliver Pelete has be mourned the low number of people accessing Voluntary, Counseling, and Testing  (VCT) services in the district.
Speaking at the occasion commemorating the 2010 World AIDS Day in Sinazeze, today, Mr.  Pelete lamented that it is saddening to note that  only three percent out of the total population of 120, 000 people in the district have access to VCT service.
Mr. Pelete pointed out that it is important for people to know their status for them to make informed decisions.
He also called for double effort in addressing human rights abuses, combating HIV/AIDS, and all forms discrimination against humanity.
The DC said the district is more affected because it has structures that were closer to  the communities that were more vulnerable  to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
He urged leaders to take responsibility in ensuring that the pandemic is reduced in line with the this year’s theme “ Universal Access to HIV Prevention Treatment Care and Support as a Human Right and Stop AIDS Keep the Promise.
