KALUSHA HAS FAILED ZAMBIA SAYS PHIRI

By Globe reporter
FAZ life member David Phiri has joined voices calling for the embattled Kalusha Bwalya led executive to humble itself and agree to meet the splitter group led by Andrew Kamanga.
And Phiri has condemned FIFA on its conduct over the impasse at Zambia’s football house.
Speaking during a Muvi Television programme on Sunday, Phiri said Kalusha led executive had failed to deliver to the expectation of the Zambian people.
“During our time, Zambia used to beat teams like Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and other West and North African countries. But today we asked to celebrate a victory over Somalia. This is how far our game has been reduced,” said Phiri.
Phiri, who attended the Kamanga led group organised emergency council meeting, said it was very clear that the Kamanga led group formed a quorum and expressed doubt as to whether the Kalusha organised gathering met the two thirds majority as required by FAZ constitution.
He said FAZ has never engaged its life members on the current impasse saying several times FAZ had delivered his tickets two days after the games.
Phiri further said, as FAZ life member, he had not seen the association’s audited accounts.
On FIFA, Phiri said it is high time the global soccer governing body to review its policies.
He said it was wrong for FIFA to rush in endorsing the Kalusha led faction without getting the other side of the story.
He further said it was wrong for FIFA to dismiss the National Sports Council of Zambia’s report on FAZ as the council had the mandate to overseer the development of sports in the country.
“FIFA must stop its double standards. I hope an everlasting solution will be found after the FIFA organised meeting. It is good that Kamanga’s group and government has been invited to the meeting,” he said.
FIFA has called for a meeting in Zurich on December 21 where both the warring parties have been invited. Both parties and government will send two of their representatives for the meeting.
